Seemed appropriate on 14 October, the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.
3. Queen Matilda was NOT a Dwarf (971 views)
Every so often I see a tweet that claims William the Conqueror's wife was only 4'2" tall. She wasn't - it's a modern myth.
4. Time Team: Battle of Hastings (2242 views)
On 1 December a Time Team Special claimed to have found a new site for the Battle of Hastings. I found the argument unconvincing.
5. A Letter to Terry Deary (20475 views)
The winner by a considerable margin. In February Terry Deary, author of the bestselling Horrible Histories, declared himself in favour of closing libraries, so I wrote him a short letter.
